Services
In-School PD
Learn alongside students with an on-site model of professional learning. We’ll spend time in classrooms studying children and explore instructional practices. A combination of classroom demonstrations and teacher practice creates active, contextualized, and practical learning. In-classroom work could be structured with a 1:1 coaching model, work with grade level teams, or collaborations with a specialized group of teachers. Alternatively, this in-house model could be focused on supporting instructional coaches and leadership. These classroom visits are paired with study group meetings, creating opportunities for all educators to collaborate, explore, reflect, and stretch their practice in service of the students. Professional development services can be virtual or in-person.
Workshops and Conferences
Whether an afterschool or full-day workshop or a multi-day conference, these are opportunities to deepen knowledge on a particular topic. Alissa has recently presented on topics such as supporting early literacy development through strategic use of texts, examining the science of reading in the upper grades, co-teaching and inclusive literacy practices, and engaging middle school writers through small group instruction. You may request a particular topic or design a plan in collaboration with Alissa. Family workshops are also a powerful way to engage the broader community. These events can be virtual or in-person.
Curriculum Development and Support
Schools frequently seek to develop tools to support the curriculum. For example, many districts work to craft supportive pacing calendars or document plans to support coherent instruction and integration across content areas. Curriculum development support is customized to meet the needs of the community and can be done in collaboration with literacy leaders as well.
